  29. We thought this was a pretty good Cancer chant for you …

THE CANCER CHANT, I WILL RANT

Cancer I did not give you the right,
To invade my body and take a bite.
This is my body and with all my might,
I will prevail with one hell of a fight.
To the cancer inside, I will battle and kill.
For that is my body’s God given will.
To my cancer, these words I do send.
Your life is short and near the end.

  30. Clayton,
I want you to know that you are in my daily prayers for healing and strength through this very difficult time in your life. I praise God that you know him intimately so that you are never alone. I pray today that you will hold on to Him every second and you will rejoice!!!
…but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, HOPE!!!! Romans 5:3,4 Also take comfort, Clayton that
…Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example that you should follow in His steps 1 Peter 2:21.
Christ chose you and I know he will lead you through this.
We are brothers and sisters in Christ and I am praying for you.
Teri Herman —- Sister Jenny’s “student singer” in the Praise Team

  31. Clayton,

I have been praying for you as I went through this same cancer with my brother several years ago. I know how difficult this is for you now and how difficult it will be in the coming months. If I can offer any words of encouragement to you, it is that my brother has been cancer free for 2 years now. He too had his throat, neck, tongue and everything “fried”. It was a difficult road, but with the feeding tube he was able to maintain some strength to do the basic things. He had times when he wanted to give up, but with a daughter at home, he would not let this beat him. You too have that same strength. Just allow God to walk and carry you through this. We don’t always understand why, but God does and for whatever reason this happened, you will be a better person when it is all over. May God be your light through these “dark” days and know that we are praying for you, we are pulling for you, and you have a whole “army” of people that love and care about you. God Bless!!!!!
    Tim Herman (SSLC)

  32. Clayton, Paege & Jessica,

We are praying for you and your family. Fred is a prostrate cancer survivor, since July 1992. He had emergency heart bypass surgery 9 months ago, but you know what? God still is in control and we give him thanks each day for his love, mercy & grace. What an awesome God that we have. When the going gets so rough, let him know to please hold your hand, that you cannot do this, without him. He gave you such a wonderful wife to be by your side. Your faith, family & friends will see you through this. Just hang in there and take 1 day at a time. God Bless You All!

  33. Little brother,

All of us at Raceway Ministries and Hickory Speedway are praying daily for God’s VICTORY over your cancer. All my buds at Bristol send there best! I Love You, and I’ll join you in Victory Lane when this is all over.

  37. Hi Clayton,
Glad to hear that you are hanging in there. It’s a hard battle but it can be won. With all of the family and friends you have praying for you, the battle is already won. I know you wanted to lose some weight but this way is a little extreme isn’t it? HA HA I am still sitting here at Donlamor but I am only working three days a week now and I don’t see that lasting much longer.
Just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you and I will lift you up in my prayers. Take care of yourself.
    Mary

  38. Clayton and Paege:
I have encountered several people in my church who know you and Sunday talked to one of my Sunday school classmates that is related to you. His name is Danny Bolick. He told me that his mom and yours are sisters.

As I’ve known for a long time, you are a friend to many people. Believe me, we are all trying to give back in a small way, to someone who has meant so much to so many of us. A life led in genuine service to others, is a life admired and respected. You fit that description to a T. Our prayers are for God to intercede in your circumstances and for your healing.

It is humbling to have our physical and emotional frailties revealed. But God promised to be with us, strengthen us for the battle, and use our difficulty for His good purpose. I know you believe and trust in that.

Right now, we offer you our humble support and prayers for the many kindnesses we have received from you. We stand ready to do whatever it takes to get you back on your feet and back in our midst. We miss you.

    Your friend,
    Steve

  39. Clayton, haven’t met you, but your lovely wife has been taken care of my hair for a while. I’ve been keeping up with your progress and am so glad things are working well with the treatments. What a success story, though it sounds like you’ve had a LOT to deal with – you’re a real trooper. Will continue to keep you guys in my prayers along with so many others. The Lord is looking after you. Keep your chin up!

  40. Clayton,
I have been thinking about and praying for you and your family. It appears you are taking this situation head-on and I wish you the best as you heal and get strong again. Let me know how I can help.

Here is a little quote from The Duke John Wayne for you:

“Courage is being scared to death… and saddling up anyway.”

    Trick

  41. Hang in there Clayton. Our prayers are with you.

    Mark

  42. Clayton and Peage,

I’ve really enjoyed this web site and we read it often. I pray that the throat pain and nausea will end soon. If we can help you in any way please just call.

You have a strong circle of friends and family around you.

We love you and may God bless.

  43. Clayton,

Just wanted you to know that we miss you and our sales are not the same without you. The Hickory Park sales staff thinks of you often and you are in our prayers.

    Love ya,

    Connie, Shirley, Melissa, & Molly

  44. Hey Pal. Just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you.

  45. Dear Clayton,
I know it is tough, but my favorite saying when things are tough is “this too shall pass”. In and of itself it is a nice slogan but you see I have a favorite Bible passage that puts real comfort in this: Romans viii 28-39. We Lutherans don’t talk as much about predestination and the promises of God as we should. This passage does all of that and reminds us that it is God who works salvation in us as well as holds us in his hand through our tough times.
    Love, Cousin Hubert

  46. Hello Clayton,

Just wanted to let you know that your boss (Mark) was here from Abner Henry this morning. He told us a few funny stories about you and “sweet tea” and I’m afraid we had a few laughs at your expense.

Clayton, we think of you often and do pray that you are feeling better.
We know it is rough but also know that it will get better. Michelle and I have sent you a few messages but reading thru them here do not see them. Hope you have received them.

Cllayton, we look forward to seeing you walk thru our doors.

    Pat and Michelle

  47. Been thinking about you Clayton. Often I run memories thru my mind of the things we’ve done and the places we’ve seen. Hope your feeling better today. Keep your hope and strength up. Your family is awesome and very blessed.

  48. Clayton, you are in my prayers daily. I’m so glad to hear that you got some good news. I do know that prayers work, and you have so many coming your way. Keep the faith and like you said, “Take One Day At A Time.”

  49. Hi, Clayton and Paege – It was so good to see all of you at Bethel this morning. We continue to pray for all of you, and especially give Him thanks
that you’re winning the battle. May your strength, your faith, and His grace be sufficient. You are loved with by Him with an everlasting love, as well as by all of us as Prayer Warriors at Bethel.

  50. Hi Clayton, I just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you and praying for you always. I get updates for mom (Joyce) all the time on how you are doing. Please know how much I care and am always, always keeping you and all your family in my prayers. God hold you and surround you always with his infinite love and mercy.
    Your sister in Christ, Kim.
