Hello everyone, Clayton wanted me to update everyone on his day. He had his two R/T at 7:00and 2:40. After his last treatment we met with Dr. Brizel and received some really good news.

1. He has not lost any weight since his last check up. He is really working hard to get his nutritional drinks down even though it is painful. Last night when I arrived and at lunch today, Clayton was trying to eat some canned peaches! He did not have a lot of success, but the fact he was trying was truly amazing.
2. When Dr. Brizel felt around Clayton’s neck to check his tumors, he could not feel anything!
3. Dr. Brizel put a scope down Clayton’s nose to check his tumors internally. Doc said it was pretty raw in his throat from the R/T but was very happy with the progress of the treatment. His tumors have shrunk significantly.
4. Dr. Brizel was also happy with Clayton’s alertness given the fact he is on a great deal of pain meds. The adjustment Dr. Ready did this week to his pain meds have made a big difference.

Dr. Brizel said that unlike many patients, Clayton really gets it. He knows what he needs to do and he is staying on top of it. I know to all of us that know Clayton, this comes as no surprise.

Clayton is one of the toughest, strongest willed individuals I know. He has made up his mind he is not only getting past this, but he is going to decisively defeat it . I truly believe what drives him is knowing so many of you are praying for him and encouraging him. Clayton’s family, friends and faith are the cornerstones of his strength. So let’s all keep doing our part and Clayton will keep doing his and we will all celebrate this victory together very soon.

Hey All

What a long week (15th-20th), after changing Meds several times we found a good combo for that week.

Paege and I headed back to Durham Sunday Night.  We had R/T Monday morning then did labs and met with Dr. Ready.

After much discussion we came up with another plan for the pain Meds. 

Hopefully I go back this afternoon @ 2:45 and get my R/T then get weighed and get to take a break for a few days.

Hey All

Met With Dr. Brizel this evening.  He said my surface tumors are about gone.  Good news.  So what does this mean?  If it’s working on the surface than it should be working under the skin also.  I asked if I could go home early now?  He said not yet.

But this is really good news and the treatments are working.  I still have miles to go and with faith and grace we’ll make it.

Paster Schultz came by the Caring House to see us today, he looked good.  He was visiting Mr Deal at the VA.  We had a good visit.

Hey All

Just an update.  Paege and I came back to Durham Sunday night.  We got up at 6am for the start of the day.  We did radiation @ 7:15am.  Then we met with Dr

Ready which means Blood and Labs.  Then at 10:30am had my MRI.  Just for the record I don’t like the MRI thing.  After that they had to take more blood for clinical trial.  That’s when I bout fell out.  I don’t do well with my own blood plus going through the MRI for an hour half.  I was getting tired.  But we snapped back and went for a late brunch at the waffle house.  The rest of Monday was pretty smooth, until it was time for Paege to leave.  It’s hard own both of us but we push forward.  Paege headed home to take care of Jessica and our home.  Somewhere in Greensboro Paege passed Mom heading to Durham to stay the rest of the week with me.

All is well Tue. morning.  Mom and I went to R/T and had some breakfast.  Now we wait til next R/T.

Even Better News:

I met with Dr. Brizel for my Wed check up - he did a scope down my throat and examined my neck, he said my tumors are at least 25% smaller just from the two weeks of trial drugs. So the rash was well worth it.

Started Chemo Med’s @ 9:00 and got out early @ 2:00

Finished moving in the Caring House and Paege is writing Thank You’s as we speak.

We met Pat and ? Howard from Newton. This is his last week Yaaa!

Dad is coming to Duke tonight and Paege is leaving after my 2nd RT @ 6:30
